These Kimono were styilized using antique Kimono as a guide. I have been an admirer of Kimono and things Japanese most of my life and know well the skill and craftmanship that goes into Japanese art. Kimono has evolved for over twelve hundred years using time-honored techniques of sewing and fabric construction. In no way would I dare to compete with these traditions or the beauty that is uniquely confered upon these treasured items. Instead, I honor them by trying to represent this uniqueness in an abstract way, to let loose in a visual manner the feelings I have when I look upon such absolute beauty. This series, then, is my humble tribute to the Kimono.
